Welcome to the Southampton Renaissance Faire,

Southampton County’s Premier Medieval Festival!
Held annually each spring in the town of Courtland Virginia.

Our faire seeks to provide a magical experience that is both fun, as well as educational.

It is our mission:

To educate and entertain the public by offering a unique look into a chapter of human history that is not often discussed. Through a colorful mixture of period merchants, props and decorations, live entertainment, and living history demonstrations, we bring the Middle Ages and European Renaissance to life in an exciting two day period of magic and medieval merriment.

What started off as a small, enthusiastic endeavor to educate about the Ages of Olde, has grown into a full blown annual Renaissance Faire! Huzzah! After the success of our 2013 Faire, we agreed that we had outgrown the grounds of the Walter Cecil Rawls Library and Rawls Museum Arts, and as of our 2014 Faire, have found our new home at the Southampton County Fair Grounds!

At the Southampton Renaissance Faire, guests are invited to travel far into the past and experience a long forgotten age of adventure and mystery.

Guests can enjoy:

  • living history demos
  • live-action sword and steel tournaments
  • period merchants
  • games
  • crafts
  • food
  • live entertainment
  • creatures of myth
  • and more!

There are plenty of activities for children, with many hands-on experiences and a section of the faire is devoted to children’s crafts and games.

Thank You!

We would like to thank you for visiting our website.

Our faire relies on many talented volunteers from both within our community and abroad.

Without the continued support of our community and others, this event would not be possible.
